The Australian side is trailing by 0-2 in the four-test match series against India in Border Gavaskar Trophy. The  Baggy Greens has lost their star pacer Josh Hazelwood’s services for the rest of the series. Australian opener David Warner also returned home after getting injured in the second test match, Aakash Chorpa said that he doesn’t think visitors will be highly impacted by their star opener’s absence for the rest of the series.

Former Indian opener Chopra reckons that Warner’s unavailability will not affect Australia-

David Warner has gone back. He got injured in his arm and couldn’t play in the last match (second innings) due to a concussion. They are saying it is a minor fracture and he is now not available for the third and fourth Tests. Does the opposition team become weak because of that?” said Chopra.

It feels slightly odd to say that the team won’t become weaker despite Warner not being there. But the numbers we have seen from him in India, his situation in front of Ashwin and considering the kind of confidence he had, it seems it will not make any difference to the opposition team, ” he further added.

Warner played 10 test matches in India and has managed just 414 runs at a lowly average of 21.78. He more often found himself struggling against Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin. The southpaw scored 1 & 10 runs in the Nagpur test match and in Delhi, the 36-year-old found the nick off Mohammed Shami’s delivery and was dismissed for 15 runs.

He has gone and I was reading somewhere, it could be wrong or it could be right, but there was an opinion that he is already in the twilight of his Test career and we don’t know how much longer we will see him play,” said cricketer-turned-commentator Chopra on Warner retirement.

Aussie opener Warner was hit by Mohammed Siraj’s delivery on the elbow in the second test match, his X-rays revealed that the left-hander has suffered a hairline fracture in his elbow and would undergo a detailed rehabilitation program.

Team India will now be looking to win the third test match of four test match series to secure their place in the World Test Championship final. Rohit Sharma-led side will take on Pat Cummins-led Australia for the next test match at Indore on March 1st.
