IND VS AUS 2023: Shikhar Dhawan: Indian team has taken a 1-0 lead against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. India’s star opener Shikhar Dhawan will go down in history as one of the best batters for Men in Blue, especially in white ball format.
Virat Kohli and Dhawan are good friends and are former teammates for the Delhi side in Ranji Trophy. Dhawan revealed that Kohli is a senior player at team India and young players cannot pull his leg but he can.
Dhawan disclose the camaraderie in the Indian team –
“Agar ego par lelogey to tussle aygi he aygi. Ye to ego ki baat agyi na. (It’s nothing like that. If you take it on the ego, it will hurt you. It is then a matter of ego, isn’t it?) If I continue to think that I’m a senior and I’m playing under him. Then there will be ego. It’s all frivolous thinking to me. And there’s no need to have that. It’s of no use.” said the left-hand batter Dhawan.
The 37-year-old Dhawan has not been part of the squad since December last year. He has featured for India in 167 ODIs,68 T20Is and 34 test matches. The stylish left-hander Dhawan scored 2315 runs in 58 innings of the longer format of the game. The destructive batter debuted for Men in Blue in style by scoring a quickfire 187 runs in his debut test match.
Dhawan and Kohli friendship-
“Virat is a good friend of mine. We share good camaraderie and always enjoy healthy banter. He is a senior player at Team India. I can pull his leg, young players can’t. He’s a big player. He has achieved so much. We exude good humour and bonhomie since our early playing days,” said Dhawan
Dhawan is out of India’s reckoning in the World Cup year, the veteran batter is optimistic about making a comeback to the white-ball side. India will be organizing the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in October. India has hosted different editions of the World Cup in past years, but this time the Asian giants will be the sole host for the marquee event.
