Kaif recalled his coach’s advice on batting in Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi-

You cannot play sweeps on the Kotla pitch. When I came here as a 19-year-old kid, the coach told me 20 years ago that you shouldn’t play sweeps here. Smith played a bad shot. The ball does not rise here, it stays low, where are you playing that shot, you are not playing in Australia,” said the 42-year-old Kaif.

Australian innings were on 61/1 after the end of play on day 2 but in the morning season of day 3 in the Delhi test, the visitors lost 9 wickets in a span of 91 minutes. Ravindra Jadeja was declared player of the match he picked up seven wickets in the Aussie collapse with a total of 10 wickets in the game.

Labuschagne went back to a full delivery. Renshaw came in as Warner was not there – he also played the sweep. I will say bad batting but overall class bowling from Jadeja,” further added former cricketer cum analyst Kaif.

The end from which Jadeja picked up seven wickets, there was no rough. Ashwin was getting help from the rough from the end he was bowling, but the end from which Jadeja was bowling, absolutely straight balls and six batters got out to the sweep,” concluded Kaif.

Ravichandran Ashwin and left-arm spinner Jadeja together picked 16 wickets in the second test match. The Baggy Greens has not won the test series in India since 2004-05. Team India will now be looking to win the third test match of four test match series to secure their place in the World Test Championship final. Rohit Sharma-led side will take on Pat Cummins-led Australia for the next test match at Indore on March 1st.
