Pujara said on receiving his 100th test match cap for Men in Blue from Sunil Gavaskar-

It is an honour to receive this cap from you, legends like you have inspired me (On getting the cap from Sunny G). I wanted to play for India as a youngster but I never thought I’d get to 100 Test matches. Test cricket is the ultimate format for me, it challenges you just like life. To all the youngsters, I’d encourage y’all to work hard to play Test cricket for India“, said Indian star batter Pujara.

Top-order batter Pujara so far has played 100 test matches for India, he has scored 7021 runs with an average of 44.15 in his 13-year-long career. He has been a pioneer of Indian batting in the longer format of the game and has stood as a lone warrior under brilliant bowling attacks.

I’d like to thank my wife, my family, everyone in BCCI and all my teammates who’ve supported me throughout this journey,” he concluded.

The 35-year-old Pujara has surpassed former Indian skipper Mohammed Azhurdin’s record of 99 test matches for India by this feat. He will be a force for the Indian squad in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Asian giants have successfully retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy from the last three editions in which two came down under. Australia last won the test series in India in the 2004-05 series under Ricky Ponting’s captaincy tenure. While the Men in Blue have not lost a test match in Delhi since 1987.
