IND VS AUS 2023: Virat Kohli: Indian team won the second test match at Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi by six wickets against Australia. Men in Blue are leading the four-test match series by 2-0 in the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT).
Indian star batter Virat Kohli broke Virender Sehwag’s record at the Delhi test match, former Indian opener Sehwag scored 1738 runs in BGT. Kohli surpassed Sehwag’s run tally by scoring 64 runs in the second test match.

The Delhi-born Kohli was getting cheered for every run he scored on his home ground in the second test match. On a slow-turning track, India’s talisman scored 44 runs in the first innings and 20 in the second stint of the match. The 34-year-old Kohli now has 1758 runs in 22 test matches at an average of 46.26 in one of the greatest rivalries, he has scored seven centuries and five fifties against the Baggy Greens.
Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar is at the top of the list with 3262 runs in 34 test matches at an average of 56.24, he has scored nine centuries and 16 fifties against the Aussies in the longer format of the game. Second on the list is former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting, who featured in 28 Tests and scored 2555 runs at an average of 54.36. He smashed eight tons and 12 half-centuries. Former Indian batter VVS Laxman is third on the list, with 2434 runs from 29 tests at an average of 49.67. He scored six tons and 12 half-centuries.

Virat is also the sixth-highest run-getter for India in Test matches with 8195 runs in 106 games at an average of 48.49. The 34-year-old is now behind South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis’s record of 25534 runs from 519 matches. At the top of the list of highest run-getters in test cricket is Indian icon Sachin’s tally of 34356 runs in 664 matches for his national side.
Former Indian skipper Kohli struck four boundaries in his 44-run knock in the first innings. He was given out leg-before-wicket in slightly controversial circumstances as the ball seemed to hit his bat and pad almost at the same movement.
