Australia won the One-day International series against India, moving to the top of the ICC ODI team rankings. The series began with Mitchell Starc’s brilliance with the ball and subsequently ended with the Aussie spinner dominating the Men in Blue batters in Chennai.
The interesting stat is that none of the visitors’ spinners picked a wicket in the first two games in Mumbai and Vizag, but at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Adam Zampa and left-arm spinner Ashton Agar changed the game completely by picking six wickets.
Australian opener, Mitchell Marsh was awarded Player of the Series for his 194 runs in the series. Marsh after the game praised Agar for his spell of 2/41–and said that he is one of the most resilient characters he knows.

Star Aussies opener says Agar is one of his closest mates-
“Certainly it has been an indifferent sort of six weeks for him but Ash [Agar] is one of my closest mates. He’s one of the most resilient characters I know,” Mitchell Marsh said after Australia’s series victory,” said Marsh.
In the series decider match at Chennai, After 35 overs, India was comfortably placed at 185 for 4 to chase down the target of 270 to clinch the series by 2-1, but Agar dismissed Virat Kohli (54) and Suryakumar Yadav on successive deliveries. From thereon, India kept losing wickets at regular intervals and the side was eventually all out for 248 to lose their first ODI series at home since 2019.

“That’s why he’s able to come and perform whenever he plays for Australia. He’s been the second spinner to Adam Zampa for a long period of time, but one of his strengths is his ability to be present when he’s playing and competing,” he added.
“I am really proud of the way he’s handled himself for the last six weeks and it is a testament to the group that we have guys like him that just want to play for Australia and he was fantastic tonight,” he further added.
The 29-year-old was warming the bench for the first two ODIs as Zampa was playing as the lone spinner before Agar was brought in the place of Nathan Ellis.
Earlier, in the third ODI, Steve Smith won the toss and opted to field first, visitors were bowled out for 269 runs, for the Men in Blue Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya picked 3 wickets each.
In reply, Team India ended up losing the series decider by 21 runs as Australia clinched the three-match series 2-1. Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa was the pick of the bowlers with his brilliant 4/45.
