Veteran Indian cricketer says he really likes speaking about the game-

I enjoyed commentary in the little stints that I did. I think I enjoyed speaking about the game, looking at it very analytically, at the same time trying to, you know, get something meaningful across to everybody who’s watching this sport,” said Karthik.

The 37-year-old, began his commentary career in 2021 when India toured England that year. The freshness of his commentary impressed many at that time, but also made many wonders if that is it for the wicket-keeper batter as far as his career as a player is concerned. But he came back the very next year in England for playing T20I for Men in Blue.

So, you know, I always tried to make sense out of a situation in my own way and tried to articulate it in the way I thought it was,” he further added.

And my biggest accolade came from the person that I least expected from – MS Dhoni. He called me and said: ‘I really enjoyed the commentary. Very, very good. Well done,” said veteran Indian cricketer.

The 37-year-old made his Test debut for India in 2004-05 BGT at Mumbai, he was part of the series when Australia won the last Test series in India under Ricky Ponting’s leadership. Although team India won the Mumbai Test match, but they lost the series by 1-2, in his debut match Karthik scored 14 runs and took two catches.

I was like, Wow, thank you so much. So, that is big, you know, obviously, he watches a lot of this sport. And so and to hear him say that was really good. And I was happy that you enjoyed my commentary,” said cricketer-cum-commentator on MS Dhoni praising his commentary.

The right-handed batter was part of the Indian squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, in the later part of the tournament he was replaced by Rishabh Pant in the playing XI, Men in Blue were knocked out of the tournament after getting thrashed by England in the semifinal by 10 wickets.

While the veteran cricketer will be seen playing for RCB in the IPL 2023, the Banglore-based club will be starting their camping in the IPL 16 on 2nd April 2023 against Mumbai Indians at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
