Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been the pillar of Indian batting across formats. Sharma started India vs Australia (IND VS AUS) Test series at Nagpur with a brilliant century, while Kohli ended his drought of Test ton after a gap of three years with a brilliant knock during the last test match of Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023.

In the leading run scorer tally for BGT 2023, Usman Khawaja is at the top with his 180 runs mark in the Aussies’ first innings at Ahmedabad Test, and two fifties in the series, at the same time from team India, the Indian skipper has 242 runs in six innings, but Kohli has now surpassed Rohit’s run tally with his valiant knock at Narendra Modi Stadium.

The former Indian skipper scored a Test century after almost a gap of three years and five months, with nearly after 1205 days. Kohli now has 28 tons in the longer format of the game, with a total of 75 centuries in international cricket.

While, Rohit’s 120 runs at Nagpur Test, helped the Indian team to post 400 runs in the first innings of the first test match, Men in Blue won the first test match of BGT 2023 with an inning and 132 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series.

However, Kohli was struggling to score in the longer format of the game for the Asian Giants, the star Indian batter had last scored a Test century in November of 2019 against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Since then, he couldn’t reach the three-figure mark in international cricket till Asia Cup 2022.

At the same time, he didn’t score a century in international cricket for over three years, the drought ended with his maiden T20I century against Afghanistan in Asia Cup 2022. He also scored an ODI century against Bangladesh in December 2022, ending that drought as well.

Whereas, Rohit Sharma-led side is dominating the four-test match series with a margin of 2-1 against Australia. the home side needs to win at Ahmedabad for assurance of qualification to the World Test Championship (WTC) Final. Meanwhile, the Aussies have already reached the WTC Final after avoiding the clean sweep in the series.

At Tea on Day 4 India was 460/5, and Axar Patel and Kohli were on the crease with 38 & 135 runs respectively.
