India is currently leading the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023 by 2-0 against Australia. Men in Blue were bowled out for 109 runs in their first innings in the third test match at Indore. Shubman Gill came back to the playing XI in the place of KL Rahul in the third game, Gill and was dismissed for 21 runs by Kuhnemann.
In the morning season, Sunil Gavaskar was on the air with Matthew Hayden, when Gill took a quick single and dived in to reach the non-striker-end, Gavaskar criticised the Indian opener for calling Physio in between the over when the fast bowler was bowling.

Gavaskar criticised Gill for calling the physio in between the fast bowler over-
“We’re seeing a little bit of repair work for Shubman Gill. He had dived to make his crease but I tell you what. This could have waited. This could have waited till the end of the over,”
“There is a fast bowler who is bowling – he has bowled 4 deliveires; it’s hot – and you’ve given him a breather. Yes, you are hurt but wait for 2 more deliveries. Wait for the over to finish and get treated. You’re at the non-striker’s end, you’re not at the striker’s end. Simple things can make a difference,” said former Indian opener.
The incident happened in the 7th over of the Indian inning in the morning season. India had already lost their first wicket as Rohit Sharma was stumped out, and the new batter Cheteshwar Pujara came in for one down. Gill was facing Cameron Green and he took off for a quick single and had to dive to make it back inside his crease in time. In the process, the 23-year-old hurt himself by picking up a scratch. The right-handed batter called for the physio without wasting any time which flickered Gavaskar’s.
“You’re a harsh man, Sunny. That’s a real stinger,” replied Hayden to Gavaskar.
