Abhishek Sharma, a Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter, remarked that everyone in the team believed that England’s ace batter, Harry Brook, will soon produce the kind of innings he did in their match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) since it was only a matter of time. While playing for SRH, Brook struck 100* (55) against KKR, which was the first tonne of the IPL 2023.
Now in IPL 2023, the Aiden Markram-led side has won two and lost as many games. On Friday (April 14) SRH beat KKR by 23 runs after the home side failed to chase down the mammoth 229-run target.
Abhishek Sharma opened up about Harry Brook’s heroics against KKR-
“We all believed that he can do this. It was just a matter of time. We have played together at the U-19 level. We all knew inside that he’s going to do something like this.
“That’s what he did today. If you see his innings in Tests, it’s almost the same as T20. He just reacts to the ball and plays his natural game, whatever the situation is,” said the left-handed batter on Harry.
With Harry’s 100, Aiden Markram 50, and Abhishek 32(17), the visitors reached 228/4 at the end of 20 overs. Earlier, he failed to fire in the ongoing edition of IPL 16, scoring only 29 runs in three outings.
“Brook can take down any pace attack. That was plan; we backed Brook to open because I was injured in between. I think that was a very good decision by the coach and management. We all knew how he plays fast bowling. He can take on spinners as well,” he further added.

In the IPL 2023 Auction, the 24-year-old English batter was brought at the whopping amount of ₹13.25 crore. The 24-year-old Brook has been in tremendous form for the English side in Test matches with 4 centuries in 6 outings and he is keen to replicate that form in the cash-rich league.
During the chase, the KKR side lost their opener, Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the very first over. At one stage, Nitish Rana-led side was reeling at 96/5. In the end, skipper Nitish Rana’s 75 (41) and Rinku Singh’s 58*(31) helped KKR to reach 205/7.
The Kolkata-based side has also won and lost two games each in IPL 2023, whereas, for the next clash, SRH will take on Mumbai Indians (MI) at Hyderabad on April 18.
