England speedster Jofra Archer expressed his desire to play the entire season of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Mumbai Indians. Jofra Archer was brought by Mumbai Indians for 8 crores in IPL 2022 mega-auction knowing that he will miss the entire season due to injury.
Jofra Archer is excepted to lead Mumbai Indian bowling attack in absence of Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Jhye Richardson who ruled due to injury, but Archer is aware of the fact that he might not play back-to-back games due to work-load management and added that if can play few games in ashes, he would be happy.
“If I’m told I’m not playing I don’t question it. Usually, back-to-back games I don’t even bother to ask because I already know what the answer is, and speaking of Ashes If I can play one game this summer, I’ll be happy. If I play more than one, that’s just a bonus, I haven’t lost an Ashes series as yet, so hopefully, we can keep it that way,” he stated.

On speaking about injuries, Jofra Archer admitted these kinds of things are always there in the back of his mind, but it is more important to focus on bowling putting those thoughts behind and stressing that it is impossible to stop injuries being a fast bowler.
“Sometimes you’ve still got that little feeling in the back of your mind that you’re still not ready yet, you know. But for me, I just put that behind me and whatever happens, happens. If you’re supposed to get injured again, then there’s nothing you can do about it. But til that time comes I’m just gonna give everything I’ve got. You’re back here again so, you know, you might as well just give it your all,” he added.
The 27-year-old made his comeback in the SA20 tournament for MI Cape Town where he was rested in alternative matches. Archer made his return to the England ODI side against South Africa and Bangladesh where he played only 4 matches out of 6 matches.
Jofra Archer To Lead Mumbai Indians Bowling Attack
Mumbai Indians had a disastrous campaign in IPL 2022 finishing 10th in the points table with just 4 wins in 14 matches. Mumbai had a poor bowling attack in the league in 2022 as they missed the service of Jofra Archer and Tymal Mills. Similarly, Mumbai suffered a huge blow before the start of IPL 2023 losing Bumrah and Richardson due to injuries and replacements are yet to be named.

Mumbai Indians have one of strongest batting in the league with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Surya Kumar Yadav, Tim David, and Dewald Brevis, but their bowling is looking vulnerable in absence of Bumrah and a proper spinner in their lineup, but there will be hopeful of players like Duan Jansen and Arshad Khan step up in the big occasion.
