As always, Cena didn’t provide any context for the photo posted but only added up fuels to the ongoing speculations via the rumor mill. It’s no secret that many former names are expected as returnees and he appears to be one of them.

John Cena made one last Royal Rumble appearance in 2018 as he was among the final four during the match alongside Finn Balor, Roman Reigns, and the winner, Shinsuke Nakamura.

Last year, he entered his name into the match, as well. But then WWE created a kayfabe angle of injury courtesy of Drew McIntyre to get him out of the match. In reality, his movie schedule barred him from competing in the match.

Earlier, John Cena said in an interview that he wants to “earn” a spot at this year’s WrestleMania 36 card. The show takes place in Tampa, Florida that is in his hometown and he reportedly is willing to do more than just an appearance like WrestleMania 35 where he featured in a segment with Elias in his “Doctor of Thuganomics” gimmick.

“I always look for them to give me ideas and then me kind of make it my own,” John Cena said on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “I know that we have a small large event called WrestleMania around the corner, that just so happens to be in Tampa, and that’s kind of where I live. So, I’ll be in the neighborhood, and Suicide Squad should be done, but it’s not like I call someone up and be like, ‘I want to be in WrestleMania.’

Only three spots are left for WWE Royal Rumble men’s division match and if John Cena has to make an appearance then he has to be one of those spots. We have to wait and see whether it happens or not.
