Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood has been arrested after his girlfriend shared images on social media regarding players’ abuse. Both the club and Manchester Police have issued a statement over this and conducting their own investigation.
The 20-year-old forward has been taken into custody and remains there till further updates. But Manchester United fans have already started bashing out at the player for this shocking incident and social media is trending with everything related to this event. Fans are already saying the player’s career is over and he has disgraced the club with this shameful act. Manchester United players Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba have unfollowed the English international on Instagram and Twitter and his other teammates are expected to do the same soon.
Greenwood’s girlfriend Harriet Robson posted a few pictures and one audio clip. Pictures clearly showed marks of bruises on her hand and legs, and also one image showed blood pouring from the mouth and lips with a captain ‘To everyone who wants to know what mason greenwood actually does to me’. These images went viral on social media and later Robson deactivated her Instagram account. A few hours later police took Greenwood into custody for questioning and Manchester United issued a statement later.

Manchester United’s Statement Over Mason Greenwood:
Manchester United have confirmed that the player will not play any matches or participate in training session until further notice. Red Devils are reportedly looking into this matter and ready to take strict decisions after their investigation.

“We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media, We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.” – Manchester United in Statement.
The Greater Manchester Police have confirmed the arrest but are yet to reveal any name of the accused and victim.
“Greater Manchester Police were made aware earlier today of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence. An investigation was launched and following enquiries, we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He remains in custody for questioning. Inquiries are ongoing.” – Greater Manchester Police.
Mason Greenwood was involved in another controversial incident last year with the English National team. He and Phil Foden invited ‘paid ladies guests’ to their hotel room and were suspended by England manager Gareth Southgate. Greenwood rose through academy ranks at Old Trafford and has shown great potential so far but this incident changes everything now.
