Absence of the Bella Twins from WWE has affected the programming a lot. It’s one of the reasons why we may not get the Evolution PPV’s second edition. Plus, it was after Wrestlemania that WWE had some big plans by bringing back Nikki Bella on the championship picture and give a boost to the female roster of the WWE which suffered a lot due to lack of star presence.
Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev did an interview with Entertainment reporter and founder of Reel Talker, Jim Alexander to reveal the same. They attended a charity poker event at Paramount Studios to disclose that WWE had some big plans around her and the WWE Raw women’s champion, Becky Lynch. Back then, Becky was a dual champion holding both the gold from Raw and Smackdown.
While speaking with the media, Nikki Bella admitted that she would love to make a comeback and face Becky Lynch. In fact, that was the original planning around the title program once Ronda Rousey went to hiatus following Wrestlemania 35. Bella’s presence could have removed the big void created on the female roster that has also made Becky’s title reign lackluster since she did not receive strong opponents.
Check out comments from the elder Bella which suggested that WWE did have some big plans around them,
“I’d love to come back and wrestle “The Man” Becky Lynch, she’s doing so well, or “The Iconics” would be a dream. We planned on doing that after Wrestlemania.”
Nikki Bella is one of the biggest mainstream celebrities that WWE has ever produced. Whenever appearing on TV, the viewership goes up courtesy of their strong fanbase. So it was a sure-shot plan to bring her back on either Raw or Smackdown to give a boost to the WWE programming. Even her sister, Brie Bella was also ready to lace up the boots and reform the Bella Twins tag team that once dominated the female roster. However, that did not turn out to be a reality since Nikki had to announce retirement.

In an episode of the Bella Twins Podcast, Nikki Bella revealed that there were plans for The Bellas vs. The IIconics after WrestleMania 35. But the doctors diagnosed Nikki with neck issues and the benign cyst which would never let her make the comeback. So even if she wants to come back to in-ring competition, it’s not possible for the WWE medical team to clear her to wrestle, ever.
