In the ongoing New Zealand vs England test series, the Ben Stokes-led side won the first test match by 267 runs at Mount Maunganui (NZ). The tall pacer Kyle Jamieson didn’t play the first test against visitors but was a contender for the second game.

Jamieson’s injury has prevented his plan to return to international cricket after June 2022. The 28-year-old Jamieson was picked by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 auction for 1 crore.

The right-arm pacer Jamieson last played for Black Caps during their tour of England in June 2022. After sustaining the injury, he was on the sidelines for the next couple of months before being available in domestic cricket in January 2023. The on-hand surgery also has made his availability doubtful for the upcoming IPL 2023 season.

 New Zealand head coach Gary Stead has updated about Kyle’s injury update-

He’s seen a surgeon and he’s getting back surgery later in the week, so it’s been a challenging and difficult time for Kyle and a big loss for us. We hope we will know more in three to four months and just what the prognosis is,” said Kiwi coach Gary Stead.

The tall fast bowler Jamieson’s suspected injury has ruled him out of the test series. The doctor has confirmed the surgery after substituent MRI scans and consultations.

The Kiwi pacer Jamieson has been ruled out for at least 3-4 months after struggling with a back injury, he is set to miss the forthcoming IPL 16 in April 2023. Earlier, Tim Southee led side won the toss and opted to bowl, the visitors scored 325 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the first innings.

The Black Caps scored 306 runs in their first innings, while Brendon Mccullum’s players were bowled out for 374 runs. the home side was not able to chase the target of 394 runs and was bowled out for 126 runs.

New Zealand will take on England’s side for the second test match on 24th February at Wellington. The English side won the first game in the two-test match series by  267 runs.
