Former Pakistani leg spinner, Danish Kaneria opens up about Asia Cup 2023, as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi, recently talks about Hybrid Model for the continental championship, while Kaneria backed PCB and said it is correct in Pakistan’s view that they can host tournaments safely, proved by the many bilateral series held recent times in the nation.

Danish Kaneria thinks PCB should shift the venue for the Asia Cup 2023 to Dubai-

“If you look from Pakistan’s point of view, they are right because international cricket has revived in the country. Every team is coming there and they want India to come too. Even when India came to Pakistan last time for a bilateral series,” the Ex- PAK spinner

PCB chairman Najam Sethi has decided to take a firm stance on the hosting rights for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, stating that the board is willing to bear revenue losses if the Asian Cricket Council does not accept their proposal where “India playing its matches at an offshore venue and Pakistan hosting the remaining games at home” model.

“Pakistan should play Asia Cup in Dubai, do some good PR there. Then travel to India for World Cup, do some good PR there, meet Indian government officials and initiate a dialogue.” he further added.

While India is set to host ICC ODI World Cup 2023, solely for the first time in 13 the edition of the prestigious tournament, so as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has said that they are not reluctant to travel to Pakistan, PCB also has given a warning to BCCI that if they will not come to Pakistan then Men in Green will not travel for WC 2023 in India.

“Pakistan should host Asia Cup in Dubai, agree to go to India and think about the long term because Pakistan has the 2025 Champions Trophy… Travel to India for World Cup, do some good PR there, meet Indian government officials and initiate a dialogue. For the 2025 Champions Trophy,” stated Kaneria.

While Pakistan is scheduled to host the Asia Cup 2023 in September, this edition will be 50 over format fixture for keeping an eye on ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India, which is expected to be in October.
