In the ongoing Pakistan Super League ( 2023), Lahore Qalandars’ star pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi struggled against Karachi Kings in the PSL, he gave 39 runs in a four-over spell by taking one wicket. Shahid Afridi pointed out some mistakes in Pakistan’s speedster bowling in the ongoing T20 league. Afridi said that he was trying too hard and that is why he was expensive in death overs.

Afridi said that he believes that the left-arm pacer needs to use the bowling crease to his advantage:

I have been observing him and also had a chat with him. I think he is bowling too far away from the stumps. If you bowl from far away, it is a very big thing to bring the ball back in from there. It is not very easy,” said former Pakistan cricketer.

I think he needs to make better use of the crease. He needs to bowl from close to the stumps. Like, we talk about Wasim Akram, he used to bring the bowl back in by bowling from close to the stumps,” he further added.

Earlier at the start of the season, Pakistan pacer Afridi played his first professional game after injuring his knee in the T20 World Cup 2022 final against England. Afridi recently got married to former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi’s daughter Ansha in February 2023.

Afridi leads the defending champions Lahore side in PSL 2023. In his first game in PSL 8, Afridi-led Qalandars beat Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans in a close contest encounter by 1 run.

He was trying too hard, which is why he was expensive during the death overs. He was trying to bowl too many Yorkers, which turned into full tosses and he got hit for sixes.

He needs to watch his videos and correct his mistakes himself. He needs to remember the process from the time, when he was doing well,” concluded Afridi.

While Qalandars is in the second position in the PSL 2023 points table so far. Meanwhile, the runner-ups of last season PSL in 2022, the Multan-based side is in the top spot with three wins and one loss out of four games they played.  Lahore will face Peshawar Zalmi for the 15th match of the PSL 8 on February 26 at their home ground.
