Real Reason Why WWE Added Brock Lesnar At 2020 Royal Rumble Match 1

As seen on this past edition of Monday Night Raw, WWE Champion Brock Lesnar returned to the programming in the opening segment. The advocate general, Paul Heyman was accompanying him to the ring who noted on his client’s availability at Royal Rumble.

Instead of declaring an opponent for him, Heyman mentioned that Lesnar will be entering the Royal Rumble match, itself just because no viable opponent is available for him.

WWE Planning Surprise Title Match For Brock Lesnar At WrestleMania 36?

Brock Lesnar entering the Royal Rumble match drew attention from all over the pro-wrestling circuit as well as the mainstream media houses. This could be a reason for WWE to add the biggest box office attraction to the match so that it could make headlines following Raw.

WWE Raw Commentator Wants To Beat Down Brock Lesnar In 2020

The creative team was successful in doing so whereas they had an added reason to add the champion to the over-the-top-rope challenge.

As per the storyline perspective, there was no relevant opponent available for Brock Lesnar in the current WWE scenario. Paul Heyman announced that there’s no single person on RAW, SmackDown or NXT who’s worthy of facing Lesnar for the WWE Championship.

Hence, his client will enter the Men’s Royal Rumble 2020 match as the number one entrant to conquer everyone and everything on his path.

On a follow-up from these comments, a future program is an actual target by the creative team in this context. According to WrestleVotes, WWE booked Brock Lesnar in the Royal Rumble match itself to set up his match at WrestleMania 36. His opponent could be from SmackDown or NXT that is not from the flagship show,

“WWE is doing this Lesnar in the Rumble angle as a way to set up Brock’s Mania matchup. Which could signal it’s against someone from SD or NXT as Heyman mentioned a few times last night. Opens up a world of possibilities.”

It does sound interesting where Brock Lesnar could face someone in a cross-brand match if no Raw superstar is ready to take on him. On the other hand, it’s doubtful whether it’d be wise to insert a SmackDown or NXT star into the context after the brand separation was finalized via the Draft back in October.
