With the Holiday seasons continuing, WWE programming will contain mostly filler things for now. Last night’s Christmas edition of Smackdown was no different that dealt with the mid-card scene, mostly. The WWE Champion continued his heel antics to project himself as the stronger persona over on the blue brand. This segment with R-Truth has set him up for a non-title matchup with the entertaining superstar. This match might arrange a filler match for next week’s New Year edition of Smackdown.
The eight-man tag team match was chaotic but good enough to keep the fans entertained on Smackdown. Presence of The New Day or The Usos is always something fresh on the show, anyway. But it was good to see SAnitY and the Good Brothers back in action. In the end, the heel factions i.e. SAnitY and The Bar had to digest the loss to keep the Christmas spirit on. But this loss might not hurt their status in the long run.
Jeff Hardy vs. Samoa Joe was an expected matchup with their rivalry going around on Smackdown Live. They finally had the match on Christmas edition that witnessed an expected outcome. Handing away win to either one of the superstars could ruin the momentum for the opponent. So they went for a double count-out to stretch the feud for time being.
The Miz and Shane McMahon becoming a tag team was just a matter of time on Smackdown Live. The Miz can become quite annoying when it comes to sticking to some unpleasant ideas and this time was no different. He was finally able to make McMahon agree to his pledge that indicates some big-time planning is waiting for these two. Furthermore, Mustafa Ali is continuing the momentum ever since coming on the main roster. We hope this will hand him some good things, going forward.
Finally, the main event of Christmas Smackdown was a decent one between Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura. But the title change was quite significant. Nakamura holding on to the title would have resulted in nothing. Giving this to the trusted shoulder might bring back the prestige to the mid-card title. The Bulgarian Brute can re-establish his status on the Smackdown roster, yet again.
Overall, it was an average episode of Smackdown Live on Christmas. Here are the Twitter reactions from the show.

AJ attacking Vince feels really random. They should have let Becky attack Vince for trying to talk down to her last week and play her up as an anti-hero even more #SDLive
