Review & Twitter Reactions From Smackdown Live: January 8, 2019
Jan 9, 2019 at 1:01 PM
Smackdown kicked off with a fun opener that might have become a ‘moment of the year’ candidate. It was no less than John Cena-Becky Lynch segment from last week. Daniel Bryan has transitioned into an Environmentalist from the past several weeks. We got to witness his outrage towards the people regarding this. It was really interesting to see him throwing and hot dogs and sodas to people around him.
This engaged the fans, be in the arena or watching at home to get engaged in the show. A veteran like him always garners attention like this. In the case of Daniel Bryan on Smackdown, he has already mastered these things. No wonder some fans are calling this heel persona of him as the greatest in-ring character of his career. The match against R-Truth was also a short but fun one. It’s a must to mention that the creative team is using Truth in a far better way keeping him relevant on the roster.
Rey Mysterio and Mustafa Ali teaming up against Samoa Joe and Mustafa Ali was a pure entertainer for us on Smackdown. It was a visual treat to our eyes as each one of them came up with innovative moves. We should mention Mysterio and Andrade Almas who comes up with magic against each other. Mysterio hitting that Canadian Destroyer on Almas was really awesome to see. Hopefully, we’ll get more of these two in months to come.
The tag team match between The Usos and The Bar turned out to be quite a long one. But both the teams pulled off some amazing stunts to keep the audience indulged into it. Thereafter, Mandy Rose arrived in a towel not only distracting Jimmy Uso but also garnering the entire attention of us. This allowed The Bar to retain who will now challenge The Miz-Shane McMahon setting up a fresh equation.
The triple threat Smackdown main event match was a solid one with an expected winner in the form of Becky Lynch. This makes things interesting as she was the favorite one to win the women’s Royal Rumble match. Courtesy of this win, she will now get a one-on-one bout against Asuka over the title. This might give a slight upper hand to Charlotte Flair when it comes to the Royal Rumble match.
It was another good edition of Smackdown Live that handed away two more championship matches to us at Royal Rumble. Here are the Twitter reactions,
Being The Man isn’t a prize to win, it’s a mindset to own. I’m feeling it. Heads will be slapped off shoulders tonight, lads. #SDLive pic.twitter.com/ZN9SIthPbB

Asuka vs Becky was the right choice IMO- much more fresh a match than Charlotte or Carmella facing Asuka would’ve been. Royal Rumble is shaping up very nicely #SDLive pic.twitter.com/fSX6Pnylhv
