Smackdown kicked off with a great opening segment featuring The Man herself, Becky Lynch. Speculations were running rampant about her potential invasion on Smackdown and she made those true. WWE is taking the easiest way to build Becky as the defiant one who has the similar qualities like Stone Cold Steve Austin. For two days in a row, she attacked the McMahons to earn big cheers from the crowd. These segments are actually putting her over as a universal babyface.
The opening contest of Smackdown was an average tag team match. Rusev and Nakamura teamed up against the Good Brothers for a fresh match and the victory, as well. We still find it difficult why WWE officials took the championship away from Rusev killing the Rusev Day gimmick. He was more than over with the crowd and looked to be a solid champion. Now R-Truth received it and he was not even on the show!
Mustafa Ali has a ton of talents when it comes to wrestling. This is why he got the promotion to the main roster and a guy who can go toe-to-toe with anyone on the blue brand. It is good to see him getting such momentums and facing Randy Orton in a match. He pulled off those high flying antics until getting the victim of an RKO, out of nowhere. But we can take nothing away from the young superstar.
Smackdown superstar injured on the show
In the women’s division, WWE chose Carmella and Naomi as the final team for the Elimination Chamber match. It did not come as a surprise since Becky Lynch is suspended and can’t form a team with Charlotte Flair. Meanwhile, the team of Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville is having the most momentums by their side. In fact, they picked up another win on Smackdown that makes them potential favorites to win the inaugural tag titles.
Daniel Bryan received two segments on Smackdown to prove how dominant champion he has become. His hometown crowd Washington actually cheered him up when he was talking rubbish during a promo session. The main event match with Hardy got disqualified since WWE did not want any of the superstars to suffer a pinfall at this point. A brawl among the Elimination Chamber competitors ended the show to make the stakes high for the title match.
