WWE Loses $1 Billion In Two Days, No Plans If Vince McMahon Dies
Following this, WWE – Amazon partnership rumors began as CNBC published an article with analyst Lauren Martin of the Needham investment firm, who attended the call. Needham believed that Amazon could buy the streaming rights to WWE content, and eventually buy the whole company that helps them to survive in the streaming wars.
“We believe that such a licensing deal would put Amazon in the best spot to purchase all of WWE, whenever the family is ready to exit,” Martin said. “Vince McMahon is currently 74 years old, going on 50.”
But as per Meltzer, Amazon is not interested in WWE because they are looking for cheaper content. They already have a deal with the NFL and not looking forward to adding another program containing loyal fanbase. DAZN, ESPN+ and NBC’s Peacock service, which launches later are said to be those streaming platforms who are still in talks with the WWE over claiming rights.
