Indian side came strongly on Day 3 of the fourth test match at Ahmedabad with Shubman Gill’s magnificent 100 at the top, Men in Blue is trailing by 191 runs in the last match of Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023, while the Rohit Sharma-led side has taken an unwinnable lead of 2-1 in the series.
In India’s first innings, Gill completed his second century in test matches and his first on his home soil. His 128 runs of 235 balls included 12 boundaries and one six. In his memorable knock, he also joined the elite list of players to score a ton in all formats of the game.
Suresh Raina, was the first to score a century in T20I, ODI and Test matches for Men in Blue. In 2015, India’s all-format skipper, Rohit Sharma joined Raina on the list with his T20I hundred against South Africa.

In 2016, KL Rahul joined Raina and Rohit on this list. Rahul made his Test debut in the 2014 BGT series, while his white-ball debuts came 2 years later. He scored a century on his ODI debut against Zimbabwe. After six years, Gill scored a century in all formats to join this illustrious list. The youngster has 4 ODI centuries, one T20I century and two Test centuries in his career. The 3 ODI tons include a double-century against New Zealand in January 2023, he also became the youngest to hit a double-century in ODI with his 208 runs.
In ODIs, his last five scores have been 21, 116, 208, 40*, and 112. Gill has the highest individual score for team India in Test, T20I & ODI in 2023.
In the ongoing BGT 2023 test series, the 23-year-old replaced out-of-form Rahul in the third test. Although Gill didn’t score big in the third test match at Delhi, Indian skipper Rohit believed in the youngster and played him at Ahmedabad. Previously, many former cricketers and media have criticized Kl Rahul’s unimpressive performances for the last few years, especially in the longer format of the game.
While, on Day 3 of a fourth test match, Shubman Gill scored a brilliant century, he scored his second ton at Test matches and his first on his home soil. Australian side with the help of Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green century posted 480 run mark in their first innings. Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed 6 batters by giving 91 runs during his first stint at Ahmedabad Test.
India needs to win this test match to be assured of reaching the World Test Championship (WTC) Final, while the ‘Baggy Greens’ has already qualified for the WTC Final in England after avoiding the clean sweep in the series, visitors won the last test match at Indore by nine wickets.
At stumps on Day 3, India 289/3, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja are on the crease with 59 and 16 runs respectively.
