BCCI president Sourav Ganguly believes that the Indian team under Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid will become a successful unit. He said that the board has enough confidence that they would turn things around for India in ICC tournaments.
Notable that India hasn’t won any ICC tournament since 2013. In the last T20 World Cup, they were knocked out in the group stage after losing two crucial games against Pakistan and New Zealand. After the T20 World Cup, Ravi Shastri decided not to renew his coaching contract so Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the new head coach as he was offered a contract till the ODI World Cup 2023.

Also, Virat Kohli decided to step down from the T20 captaincy which he announced before the tournament so Rohit Sharma took over from him. In their very first series under Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid, India achieved a 3-0 win against New Zealand in the T20I series. Since then Rohit hasn’t played any competitive cricket as he was rested for the Test series against New Zealand and missed out on the entire South Africa tour due to an injury.
But the duo will be back for the West Indies series starting on February 6 as he will lead India for the first time as full-time white-ball captain. The preparations for the next T20 World Cup as it’s less than 9 months away. In an interview with Sportstar, Sourav Ganguly wished them the best as he has a firm belief that India will do well in the World Cup.

“I wish them all the best. They have had great careers so far and I am sure they will do well for India. I cannot predict what is going to happen, but there is enough confidence in both to do well,” Ganguly spoke to Sportstar.
Ganguly further added that he doesn’t want to put too much pressure by making any statement as he stated that India will always be a contender in any tournament.
“I don’t expect and don’t want to put pressure on them by expecting too much. I just wish them all the very best. I hope they do well. They are a great side, who will always be contenders and I hope they play well,” he added.
However, Ganguly didn’t speak anything regarding test captaincy whether Rohit Sharma would lead India in Test Cricket as well or India would go with a different captain in the red-ball format.
