South Africa was able to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series after winning the opener in the Super Over against Sri Lanka. Both teams managed to score 134 runs in their allotted 20 overs and the result of the match was decided by a Super Over. It was the 12th T20I match which ended in a stalemate. David Miller and Imran Tahir were the heroes for the Proteas in the Super Over.
Turning Point of the Match:
David Miller helped South Africa in getting 14 runs in the Super Over. Subsequently, Imran Tahir bowled a fine over to restrict the visitors.
Man of the Match:
David Miller was awarded the Man of the Match. The southpaw batsman scored a fine knock of 41 runs off just 23 balls with the help of five fours and one six. Miller then also scored 13 runs in the Super Over.

South Africa didn’t get off to a good start in their run-chase as they lost two quick wickets. The Proteas skipper Faf du Plessis scored 21 runs to help his team get past fifty. Meanwhile, David Miller and rookie batsman Rassie Van der Dussen added a good alliance of 66 runs.
However, they lost the plot of the chase in the fag end of the innings. The hosts lost five wickets for 15 runs and the match ended in a tie. In fact, they were 118-3 at one stage but could not finish off the run-chase as they kept losing wickets. Sri Lankan skipper Lasith Malinga was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped two wickets and conceded only 11 runs in his four overs quota.

The visitors posted 134 after Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bowl first. Sri Lanka lost two wickets in the first two overs to find themselves behind the eighth ball. Kamindu Mendis top-scored for the guests as he scored a fine knock of 41 runs.
Andile Phehlukwayo was the chief destroyer of the Sri Lankan innings as he took three wickets and gave away 25 runs in his allotted four overs.
Super Over
Meanwhile, David Miller was able to get a six and a four in the Super Over bowled by Sri Lankan captain Lasith Malinga. Miller got a six over the square leg boundary and a four towards the cover region to get 14 of the Super Over.

Subsequently, Imran Tahir was able to deliver the goods in the final over. Tahir bowled two wides but was able to keep Thisara Perera and Kamindu Mendis quiet. In fact, Dale Steyn also dropped a catch but South Africa was able to win the thrilling contest.
