Star Australian batter Steve Smith applauded Rinku Singh for his outstanding knock in the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Gujarat Titans. Singh in the Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) last fixture, struck 5 sixes in the last over to chase down the stiff target of 205 runs against Gujarat Titans (GT). Later, the left-handed batter was awarded Player of the Match for his unbeaten 48 (21).

It becomes pertinent to mention that Smith is in the commentary panel for the IPL 16. He last played the IPL in 2021 for Delhi Capitals (DC). While answering Q&A, he also expressed to name himself in the draft for the next edition.

Steve Smith shared his thought on Rinku Singh as a player-

“Pretty amazing wasn’t it? Five sixes at any point of the game is pretty special. But during the final five balls of the match to get your team home? That’s the stuff dreams are made of,” said star Aussie batter.

While the 25-year-old produced arguably the greatest finish in the history of IPL and became the first-ever player in T20 history to smash five sixes in the last over to a successful chase.

They had an amazing year last time, winning the title in their debut season. This year as well, their squad is outstanding. They will go a long way,” stated Smith on his favourite team.

After Kane Williamson’s injury, ex-Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar suggested Smith names as a potential replacement, but later Smith shut down the speculation by saying he didn’t put his name for IPL 2023 auction while reiterating that it’s a major year for Australian cricket.

“Did not put my name in the auction this year as it is a big year for Australian cricket. I will put my name in next year’s auction. If someone picks me up, it will be great,” expressed the ace Australian batter on playing IPL in future.

On April 12, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Chennai for the 17th match of the season.
