Former Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar backs Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) side for their next clash in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. While MI is coming from the win in their last game against Delhi Capitals (DC), the most successful side in IPL with five titles lost their first two games in a cash-rich league this season.
While in a head-to-head count, the Mumbai-based side has won 22 games whereas the two-time champions KKR emerged victorious on nine occasions.

Sunil Gavaskar is curious to see how Mumbai Indians will maintain their winning streak-
“The upcoming match is going to be very interesting for Mumbai because, after breaking the long streak of defeat, there must have been a change in the mindset of the Mumbai team and now it will be interesting to see what kind of game they show to maintain their winning streak,” said the former Indian skipper.
Meanwhile, the Rohit Sharma-led side is looking to deliver goods against KKR. MI side hopes to lift the title sixth time in the 16th edition of IPL. MI finished in the last spot in the previous edition of IPL, with 10 losses in 14 matches.
However, in their previous game, Rohit Sharma-led MI won the toss and elected to field first, while batting first Delhi-based side was bowled out for 172 runs with Axar Patel scoring 54 (25), supported by David Warner with his 51. For Mumbai, leg spinner Piyush Chawla picked three wickets, along with left-arm seamer, Jason Behrendorff.

In the run-chase, skipper Rohit led from the front, along with his opening batter partner, Ishan Kishan, the left and right-hand batting combination stitched together 71 runs for the first wicket in 7.3 overs. MI skipper was the top scorer for his side with 65 runs and young batter Tilak Varma scored 41 runs off 29 deliveries. The Indians eventually won the thriller by six wickets.
