The Authority faction in WWE was born on the night of SummerSlam 2013 when Randy Orton cashed in Money In The Bank contract on Daniel Bryan. Just two months before that, The Viper won that contract and patiently waited for the right time.
At SummerSlam main event, Bryan defeated John Cena to capture the WWE Championship but got betrayed by the referee Triple H who delivered a Pedigree on him. Orton ran down with Money In The Bank briefcase just to cover him and take home the WWE title and also become the golden boy for The Authority.
