WWE started hosting separate Money In The Bank matches for women superstars from 2017 onwards. Carmella won the inaugural match, not once but twice. The first time, her valet, James Ellsworth climbed the ladder and handed her the briefcase bringing in controversies around the win.
Hence, two weeks later, WWE hosted another Money In the Bank ladder match and Carmella ended up winning this one, too. Thus, winning the match gave her a ton of spotlight. After holding the briefcase for the longest time, she cashed in on Charlotte Flair to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion on the post-WrestleMania 34 episode.
