Germany continued their winning streak while Czech Republic accounted a thrashing away victory and Northern Ireland clinched a comfortable victory.
Germany beat Azerbaijan by 4-1. Andre Schurrle (19’) struck early for Germany which was equalized on 31 minutes by the hosts’ Dimitrij Nazarov. Germany regained their lead (1-2) on 36 minutes through Thomas Muller’s finishing while Mario Gomez (45’) stretched Germany’s lead to 1-3 just before the halftime. Schurrle accounted his second goal of the match on 81 minutes as the top placed Germany clinched their 5th straight victory in qualifiers.
On the other hand, Czech Republic thrashed hosts San Marino by 6-0. Antonin Barak (17′, 24′) Vladimir Darida (19′, 77′ PEN) scored a brace each while Theodor Gebre Selassie (26′) and Michal Krmencik (43′) also netted once each in the match.
In the other game, Northern Ireland remained at the second position in the points table after securing a 2-0 home victory against Norway. Jamie Ward (2′) and Conor Washington (33′) scored the goals for the hosts in the first half of the match.
