As rumours are floating around about a rift between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar appeals to the media not to jump to any conclusion unless both of them themselves open up on the matter.

Notable that Rohit Sharma has been ruled for the Test series in South Africa due to a hamstring injury and on the other side, there are some reports saying that Virat Kohli might opt-out from the ODI series to spend some time with family. So rumours are there that both of them want to avoid playing under each other’s captaincy since ODI captaincy has been handed over to Rohit Sharma.

“If Azharuddin has got some inside information then he should be coming out and telling us.”

However former Indian captain turned commentator, Sunil Gavaskar doesn’t want to jump to any conclusion regarding their equation. Yesterday former Indian Captain Mohammad Azharuddin hinted at the possibility of the rift between the two.  But Gavaskar doesn’t want to pay attention to any such baseless story.

“The question is, ‘is there anything simmering at all (between them)?’ Unless both the players come out with something, we should not jump to conclusions. Yes, Azharuddin has said something but if he has got some inside information about what has happened then he should be coming out and telling us what happened,” said Sunil Gavaskar to India Today.

He wants concrete proof of a rift to have any opinion on the two. He believes that it’s not fair to point fingers at two icons of Indian cricket without any information.

“Till then, I will give the benefit of the doubt to both the players. Because both have served Indian cricket brilliantly and I don’t think it is fair at all for any one of us, without having exact information, to be pointing fingers at either of them,” He added further.

Noteworthy that Virat Kohli will hold a press conference on Wednesday afternoon where lots of questions regarding this matter will be asked.
