Christian made his shocking in-ring return at the 2021 Royal Rumble event by competing at the Men’s Rumble match. He competed side by side with his best friend and the match-winner Hall of Famer Edge to send the pro wrestling world to a frenzy. During the post-match interview, he also gave some hope that he will be back soon in a WWE ring.

However, the fans might just have to wait a bit more to see the multi-time champion back in the scene. Christian did sign a WWE contract but he hasn’t been present, backstage in recent times. According to Fightful Select, WWE doesn’t have any creative direction available for him, either, or at least it’s something that no one has any idea, at present.

“No creative plans have been noted at least publicly backstage to where most of the roster would hear about them.”

Update On Christian's Future After Signing A WWE Contract 1

That being said, it will be interesting to see when and where Christian will be seen, again. Chances are really low that we would see him performing or get involved in a storyline for WrestleMania 37. There were some rumors that he might be involved in Edge’s WrestleMania program, but that is yet to happen on SmackDown.

Christian is not AEW’s big surprise

Since Christian had signed a WWE deal, he’s not AEW’s big surprise to be revealed during the upcoming Revolution pay-per-view event, either. Tony Khan has recently signed a huge Hall of Fame worthy star to an AEW contract, and the multi-year deal will be disclosed at Revolution. This mystery star is being speculated by a lot of fans. Names like Ryback or Rob Van Dam are being picked to make future appearances for AEW.

Update On Christian's Future After Signing A WWE Contract 2

Christian was an easy pick for the guessers but isn’t going to be AEW’s mystery man as he’s already locked into a deal with WWE. Some thought that he was a free agent, but that is not the case, either. Wrestling Inc’s Raj Giri was the first one to confirm that Captain Charisma signed an actual deal with WWE.

This means his Royal Rumble appearance wasn’t just a one-off appearance on WWE TV. WWE must be quietly gearing up Christian for future appearances. An Intercontinental Championship match against Big E was also under speculation since that match never took place, seven years ago. But that angle hasn’t been kicked off yet.
