Update On Nikki Cross Vs. Bayley WWE Smackdown Women’s Title Match 1

WWE awarded Nikki Cross with the number one contender’s slot on SmackDown Live. She won a huge six-way match during the Draft night on the blue brand defeating five other prime names from the blue brand.

It was quite a surprising victory considering that she toppled heavier names than hers. The fans liked this decision as she is one of the most over babyface female figures of the roster.

NXT to host an all-women show

Now it’s evident that Nikki Cross can’t keep the number one contender’s moniker forever until WWE allows her to cash it in for a title shot. The real question now is when will that happen.

Lashley & Lana make out on Raw

With Saudi Arabia’s event closing in, there are the least involvements for the female athletes into the ongoing storylines. So she is likely to wait for a long time before finally getting the earned title opportunity.

If not so then WWE may host the title match without many shenanigans on SmackDown TV. It means that Nikki Cross will not get her first singles title opportunity in a pay-per-view event. Dave Meltzer said during Wrestling Observer Radio that Nikki Cross vs Bayley is likely to happen on weekly television instead of PPV. There are a couple of reasons why this is the case.

First, there is a big gap for women to compete in a pay-per-view event. Secondly, WWE tried hard to insert the women superstars in the Saudi Arabia PPV but failed to get the green signal from the sports authority. Here’s more from the source,

“WWE doesn’t have another pay-per-view until Survivor Series on November 22nd. It was noted that WWE usually does something special for that event. Either a champion vs champion match or some other elimination match is likely. Obviously, WWE would like to have this match in Saudi Arabia if they were allowed to have women wrestle there.”

We’ll have to wait for sometimes before Nikki Cross gets her shot at Bayley’s SmackDown Women’s Title. Until then, Nikki Cross will be enjoying her status as #1 contender.

But the fact that WWE may host the title match unceremoniously, can harm her strong status in the future. Also, the wanted dragging of the angle does not benefit the contender. She is no condition to win the championship defeating Bayley who’s having a mean streak of her own.
