Samoa Joe will be seen in a new role in the WWE, moving forward. One of the most dangerous strikers in the WWE would eventually be leaving in-ring competitions, at least for now.
Update On When Samoa Joe Will Be Back On WWE TV
The official announcement has been made that he is joining the WWE Raw commentary table. Dio Maddin will be replaced by the former United States Champion as confirmed by WWE.com,
“Samoa Joe has been chosen to round out the Raw announce team as Dio Maddin pursues an in-ring return.
Samoa Joe will fill the role as he recovers from a thumb injury. The larger than life Superstar garnered praise from the WWE Universe after a strong performance filling in for Maddin this past week. The former United States Champion has also been a recurring panelist for FS1’s WWE Backstage.”
Update: WWE Quietly Changed Two Heel Superstars Babyface On SmackDown
Fans of Samoa Joe must have been much disappointed knowing that they could not see him in action. The good news is that Joe won’t be at the commentary position forever because this role is reserved just until he is cleared to return to action.
First-Ever Historic Match Advertised For WWE’s Return To Madison Square Garden
Samoa Joe has been suffering from a broken thumb which barred him from in-ring competition for the past couple of months. He has not been medically cleared by the doctors. Now, Reddit user Loose Lips Backstage revealed that the next medical evaluation date for the Samoan Submission Machine falls on December 30th. This is the same source that revealed the Lana and Bobby Lashley arrest segment that aired on this week’s episode of WWE RAW.
Depending on the evaluation result, WWE will decide whether to bring Samoa Joe back to the competition or keep him at the commentary table. The mentioned check-update is on Monday which suggests that the medical personnel will evaluate him before Monday Night Raw goes on air. Here’s more from the source,
“Yes, they evaluate with trainers and medical staff when talent is in town already for show. DOES NOT mean they will return to in-ring action that date; it’s only to be evaluated.”
Meanwhile, Mike Johnson noted on PW Insider Elite audio that Samoa Joe might not get to leave the Raw announce table, anytime soon. He pointed out how WWE converted Taz to an announcer from his competitive persona. We hope this won’t repeat for the former United States Champion.
