Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra is quite happy how the auction has panned out for them. Former India pacer believes that Titans have put up a really good all-round squad and now the onus is how they gel together on the field.
Notable that they picked Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill as their draft picks ahead of the auction. And they spent big money on Lockie Ferguson and Rahul Tewatia in the mega auction.

“The team has a combination of youngsters along with experience”- Ashish Nehra
However, Nehra feels that this time all teams built a good squad on paper and now the results will depend on how teams gel together during those two months.
“Yeah, it’s not just Gujarat Titans, all the teams in IPL are all very close and good, It’s about how well they click together, gel together. I have seen after the auctions this team looks the strongest but it doesn’t mean that the team will win the IPL. That never happens. It doesn’t work like that, sports doesn’t work that way,” Ashish Nehra said.

Nehra previously worked with Royal Challengers Bangalore as a team mentor. He feels that the Titans squad consists of a good mix of youth and experience and they will give the best shot to compete in the upcoming season.
“It is a new franchise and we have been able to put up a really good, all-round squad. When you talk about T20 format you need all-rounders and we have done that. We will try our level best to give the fans some really exciting cricket. The team has a combination of youngsters along with experience. We will play hard and play fair,” Nehra said.
Apart from Lockie Ferguson and Rahul Tewatia, they also got Mohammed Shami at a price of ₹6.25 Cr. They also got some good steals in form of Jason Roy (₹2 Cr) and Matthew Wade (₹2.4 Cr). They banked on quite a few all-rounders as the likes of Tewatia, Vijay Shankar, and Jayant Yadav. However, their middle-order looked slightly inexperienced.
