WWE News: Why Huge Title Change Took Place On WWE Raw Instead Of Summerslam? 1

In a surprising set of events, we have received new women’s tag team champions on this past episode of Monday Night Raw. The title match was about to happen on Summerslam on this upcoming Sunday night. But WWE officials preponed it to weekly programming without prior notice and there’s a big reason why they have done so.

As seen WWE Raw, Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss won a fatal-four-way elimination match defeating Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose, The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sabe) and former Champions, The IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce). They have become the new women’s tag team champions in a proper way that might have not been possible at Summerslam due to the loaded match card.

As reported by Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the women’s division match wouldn’t have received a proper amount of time had it been on the card on this Sunday’s Summerslam. Already 10-plus matches will take place at the second biggest PPV event of the year where the big matches will consume 15 minutes or so on average. So the remaining matches would not get even that much timespan while emanating.

Here’s more from the source, (carried by wrestletalk from WON)

“For whatever reason, I guess they decided to move it off the pay-per-view, I guess to give it more time and put it on TV. So I don’t know if we’re done to thirteen matches on the pay-per-view, but it’s probably a good thing to take one match off the pay-per-view anyway.”

The timing issue is the same reason why WWE has removed another potential Summerslam match from Sunday night. Aleister Black was set to compete against Sami Zayn in a singles contest. But WWE did not want to less emphasize the match and hence conducted it on this week’s Smackdown Live. As of now, WWE has confirmed the below lineups for Summerslam 2019 match card,
