The IWC has received a new topic to discuss, ever since it was announced that Paige was getting back on TV. It was a random announcement on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw that confirmed the youngest Divas Champion in the history of the company will be attending the show from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. But it was enough to fuel up the speculations of a potential in-ring return for her.
Two years ago, Paige announced her retirement from competition due to a medical concussion and thus WWE lost a popular name from the active roster. But crazy things happened since then as WWE cleared names like Daniel Bryan and Edge to be back in action.
These two were dealing with similar neck injuries but got medically cleared. Wrestlemania 36 will see Edge making his singles action return against Randy Orton.
While discussing the matter of Paige possibly returning to the ring, Mike Johnson noted something interesting during PW Insider Elite audio. He mentioned that WWE was never supposed to clear the Rated R Superstar to action, ever.
After sitting out for nine long years, Edge showed up at a meeting with AEW showing interest to join WWE’s rival brand. Suddenly, the scenario changed as WWE has now cleared to compete.
So, we should be getting ready to learn the similar about Paige when she shows up, on Smackdown. At least, there’s some positive news is available on WWE potentially allowing her to get physical, again. Here’s more from what Johnson said in his report, (courtesy ringsidenews.com)
“The Paige thing is weird. A lot of people wrote me like, ‘Did she get cleared?’ — ‘Is something up?’ I haven’t heard she’s cleared, but in a world where Edge is wrestling Randy Orton at WrestleMania I don’t put anything past WWE and I think the fact that AEW exists has changed their parameter in terms of what they’re willing to allow talents to do physically in the ring.”
“There were chats between Edge and AEW and magically Edge was cleared to return to the ring. Could similar things have happened with Paige? I don’t know. I’m not stating that they did happen, but I do find it interesting. Either they’re doing an angle or they’re using Paige as the mouthpiece for the challengers at WrestleMania.”
It should be noted that Paige coming back to in-ring competitions is just wild speculation, at this point. She would be confronting Bayley and hence the no-brainer idea is that these two might end up competing in the Smackdown women’s title match at Wrestlemania 36.
However, she could just appear on Friday just to cut a promo and leave without getting physical at all. It’s really hard to predict what WWE has in store for her.
