Sheamus locked in the Cloverleaf submission move on Hardy who got out of the hold and sent Hardy into the ring post. He hit the Twist of Fate followed by a Swanton Bomb to take the fight outside the ring. He went for another high-flying move but Sheamus caught him with the Brogue Kick, mid-air to get the win at Backlash.

Nia Jax vs. Asuka (c)
This title match at Backlash continued on the floor after Jax countered a Hip Attack from Asuka with a Sitdown Powerbomb. The champion locked in the Armbar submission move as the referee started the count. Jax scooped Asuka but the champion gave her kick to the head as the referee reached the ten-count. Asuka thus retained her title at Backlash via double count-out.

Handicap Match for the WWE Universal Title
The Miz and John Morrison vs. Braun Strowman (c)
The two challengers took advantage of the number-games throughout the match. Miz hit a Skull Crushing Finale as Morrison went for the pinfall but Strowman kicked out. Strowman caught Miz with a big Chokeslam. Morrison went for a Springboard attempt but Strowman knocked him out and hit the Running Powerslam for the win at Backlash.
