AJ Styles (c) vs. Sami Zayn – Intercontinental Championship Match
AJ Styles won his first Intercontinental Championship by defeating Daniel Bryan in the final match of the Intercontinental Championship tournament last week on SmackDown.
In this upcoming episode of SmackDown, he’ll be throwing a celebration in honor of his victory that also might begin the search of his next challenger. Rumors have it that the former Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn is all set to return on TV, to claim back the gold. He was the one to be stripped off the title, which led to Styles winning it.
Zayn already sent a cryptic warning to the new Intercontinental Champion on Twitter, which could be a hint that he’s going to feud with the new champion when he returns. Thus, the IC title bout seems almost confirmed for Extreme Rules as a rematch with Daniel Bryan would be repetitive.
