The New Day (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro – SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match
The New Day retained their Titles in a Fatal-4-Way match at Money In The Bank last month. Since then, they are without an opponent and didn’t get a chance to compete at Backlash.
The expected feud with The Forgotten Sons after Money In The Bank was scrapped due to recent racism controversies around the USA. It led Jaxson Ryker and his two brothers to be taken off TV for the time being. So, the champions received new opponents.
Last week on SmackDown, Kofi Kingston and Big E faced Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro in a Tag Team match. The match ended as Nakamura pinned Kofi to win the match. Thus, the heel duo can now claim a title shot that should be granted at Extreme Rules 2020.
