FOX started airing SmackDown on its networks since October 4th with the goal of making the program more mainstream than ever. They wanted to bring a legit sports-feel which would be different from the so-called sports entertainment theory put down by WWE.

WWE News: Reason Why Becky Lynch Is Not Appearing On WWE Raw

In order to do so, FOX wanted Brock Lesnar on the SmackDown brand to be the face as he is considered to the biggest mainstream star of the roster.

Initially, WWE approved their demand by bringing him on the blue brand. On the first episode aired on FOX witnessed him dethroning Kofi Kingston from his championship reign within just a few seconds. This was an effort to establish him as the face of the SmackDown brand.

However, the plot soon changed as WWE brought Brock Lesnar back on Raw within a few weeks. He was replaced by The Fiend Bray Wyatt on SmackDown who won the Universal Championship from Seth Rollins at WWE Crown Jewel. Technically, FOX wanted both Wyatt and Lesnar on the same show as they saw money in both of them.

So rumors started running rampant that a rift between FOX and WWE may have been created over trading Brock Lesnar. But as reported by the Dirty Sheets, the two parties have reached an agreement over these two superstars exchanging respective locker rooms.

WWE officials have convinced FOX officials that The Fiend is a bigger investment while when it comes to long-term plans. He is the current number one merchandise seller on the entire roster who also does not follow a part-time schedule like Brock Lesnar.

“FOX officials have also acknowledged Fiend’s popularity and also understand why it’s the right move because if Lesnar was the top champion on SmackDown, then WWE would be forced to go with Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 36, and that’s a match that WWE can’t do again.”

The Fiend Bray Wyatt is being rumored to feature in the main event of WrestleMania 36, as of now. He might go on to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship which should be the headliner of the show. But the plans could change depending upon the upcoming scenarios.
