Hell in a Cell 2018 took place last night with a stacked match card. Six Championship matches were in it. Two of them happened inside the infamous steel structure. Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman was the expected main event of the show. Here are the results from the event hosted by the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.
The New Day vs Rusev Day – Smackdown Tag Team Championships
Big E speared Rusev into the floor to pick up the pace into the match. Aiden English provided the backup and flattened E with a Senton. Rusev made a blind tag trying to give a headbutt but missed. Aiden tried to lock in the submission lock of Rusev on Kofi but failed. Kofi countered it and hit the Trouble in Paradise to retain the championships.
Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton – Hell in a Cell match
Hell in a Cell main show opened with this particular match. Orton continued to punish Hardy using a ladder throughout the opening segment of the contest. He even tried to rip off Hardy’s ear lobe using a tool. But Hardy used a low-blow to get out of it. He hit a Swanton Bomb on the chair, but Orton kicked out. Hardy tried to jump off the top of the cell, but Orton moved out causing a nasty fall through the table. Orton covered to get the win.
Charlotte Flair vs Becky Lynch – Smackdown women’s Championship
Becky Lynch went for a Fujiwara Arm-bar, but Charlotte got out of it. She hit a sit-out powerbomb to get a near fall. Becky countered with a hammerlock reverse DDT. Charlotte overcame it and locked in the Boston Crab on her opponent. Becky somehow escaped it only to digest a spear from the champion. But Becky rolled her to get the win and become new women’s champion.
Seth Rollins-Dean Ambrose vs Drew McIntyre-Dolph Ziggler – WWE Raw tag team championship
This match at Hell in a Cell turned out to be complete back and forth. Rollins started the contest with a Slingblade for a near fall, whereas, Ziggler hit the same for the same result. Rollins seemed to roll for the latter part of the match hitting a DDT into a Falcon Arrow. McIntyre broke the pinfall starting a brawl with Ambrose. Rollins went to perform the move once again when McIntyre hit the Claymore all of a sudden. Ziggler hooked the leg to retain the titles.
Daniel Bryan-Brie Bella vs The Miz-Maryse – Mixed Tag Team Match
Brie Bella started this match against Maryse only to see her tagging to The Miz. Daniel Bryan took control of the contest and tried to lock in the YES lock early. Miz escaped the ring and mocked him. Bryan brought her back in the ring to apply the lock once more. But Maryse brought the hold. Bella attacked her and hit a Thesz Press followed by a dropkick. The couple started to roll, as Miz-Maryse escaped the ring. Bella-Bryan brought her back, but Maryse came up with a quick roll up to pick up a soft win.
AJ Styles vs Samoa Joe – WWE Championship
AJ Styles started the match in a furious manner trading punches. Joe went outside for a breather before coming back with a vice lock. AJ hit a Pele Kick to return. He followed it up with a springboard 450 splash for a near fall. Joe countered a Phenomenal Forearm into Coquina Clutch. But Styles flipped through to get the pinfall win. Joe complained that Styles tapped out before the match, but referees decision stood.
Ronda Rousey vs Alexa Bliss – WWE Raw women’s championship
Ronda Rousey started the match with a quick note trying to lock in the arm-bar early. Bliss rolled out of the ring where Mickie and Fox were in her corner. Distractions allowed Bliss to gain control of the match momentarily attacking to the injured ribs. But Natalya provided the backup to Rousey neutralising Fox and Mickie at outside. Rousey came back with a swinging fireman’s carry slam followed up with the arm-bar for the victory.
Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman – Hell in a Cell Universal Championship match
A carnage broke out inside the ring, as Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman started a slugfest. Both men hit multiple Superman Punches and Running Powerslams for near falls. McIntyre, Ziggler, Ambrose, and Rollins ran down. They fought outside the cell creating utter chaos. Rollins and Ziggler fell through the commentary table off the sidewall of the cell.
Brock Lesnar’s music hit the arena, as he came out with Paul Heyman. He broke the door of the Hell in a Cell structure and attacked the competitors with it. The mugging continued, as he slammed the door into Reigns and Strowman for multiple times. A new referee came out to declare that the match ends in a no contest. The show ended with the beast leaving the arena.
