WWE starts planning Wrestlemania matches much earlier than the actual show. The gives hints of these with the ongoing storylines. This year is no exception as we already got hints of what to expect in the Road to Wrestlemania 35 leading to some huge matchups. Here are 5 of them,
Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar
This match is part of the rumor mill ever since Roman Reigns left Monday Night Raw due to Leukemia. Seth Rollins started taking shots at Brock Lesnar who picked up the vacated title. Vince McMahon has reportedly nixed this match following WWE TLC as Rollins delivered a lackluster championship match. But it is back on track.
The current plan is that Seth Rollins will win Royal Rumble 2019 to set up the inevitable matchup against Brock Lesnar. Technically, there’s no one better available on the WWE Raw roster who could throw the toughest challenge to the champion. The Architect is the perfect choice who could slay the beast incarnate at Wrestlemania and seek redemption on behalf of the Big Dog.
Daniel Bryan vs. Shawn Michaels
Now that Shawn Michaels has returned to in-ring action, we should demand a dream match from him. He can compete in the dream match against Daniel Bryan that seemed impossible for the better part of this decade.
But to Joe Peisich of Barnburner‘s No Holds Barred podcast fuelled up the rumors in recent times. He confirmed that a match between these two would be in the making, (h/t Ringside News), “WWE is currently planning to book a Student vs Teacher match at WrestleMania 35.”
The ball is in the court of HBK at this time. If he wishes to lace up the boots, it is definitely happening. With Roman Reigns being out of the scene, an appearance from Shawn Michaels seems a valiant replacement.
AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton
We have not seen a feud between these two prime figures of Smackdown Live. They have been part of a one-off bout in 2017 for a Wrestlemania title shot. This time around, they are likely to square off at the grandest stage of them all.
According to Joe Peisich of Barnburner‘s No Holds Barred podcast, WWE is organizing this match at Wrestlemania 35, (h/t Ringside News)
“AJ Styles vs Randy Orton is currently penciled in for WrestleMania 35.”
It does make sense why AJ Styles has lost the title to Daniel Bryan in recent times. Also, he pinned none other than The Viper to gain the number one contender’s spot for the WWE Championship. So it’s just a matter of time that Randy Orton strikes him back to set up a huge storyline angle for Wrestlemania.
Batista vs. Triple H
The sole reason to bring Batista back on Smackdown 1000 was to set up a program against Triple H. He started an angle by taking a jab to the COO of the WWE, “HHH has done everything in his career except beating me”. It has to be fallout when it comes to the biggest event of the year.
Also, Batista wanted this one as a send-off match in his career which the creative team has sanctioned. The program dealt with a sudden halt after Triple H tore his pectoral muscle. However, we expect him to heal up within Wrestlemania and beat Batista in the last match of his career.
Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair
The women superstars of the WWE has done everything over the course of last three years except for Wrestlemania main event. This year it is becoming reality since they have been in the spotlight for the entire 2018. Putting the very best three together at the biggest event of the year will ensure that they steal the show, again.
Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair have been involved in a three-way rivalry for a long time. So why not culminate this in a proper way at Wrestlemania? A triple threat will ensure that they get the no-disqualification environment to pull out all the stops. A first-time women’s main event will be justified by all means via this arrangement.
