WWE Universe did not see much of Bray Wyatt in the past several months. He was not dealing with any injuries during this timespan. But WWE officials were unable to find any sort of storylines for him. Hence they decided to keep him off the TV just with the fear of being misused. But this did not help either as a main-event star like him can’t afford to sit out for a long time.
The last time we saw Bray Wyatt on TV was on a WWE Raw episode of August. He was one-half of the former tag team champions alongside Matt Hardy. But they lost the titles to the B-Team. Furthermore, Hardy was dealing with a concussion and decided to take time off from WWE programming. So Wyatt suffered the same consequence, too.
Bray Wyatt did make an off-TV return on WWE Starrcade, a week ago. Fans gave him a tremendous ovation after a surprise show-up. He faced and defeated Baron Corbin to act as a babyface. This garnered a positive reaction from the fans indicating that it’s only a matter of time that he comes back on Monday Night Raw.
Backup plans also seem ready for the former WWE Champion. It seems like he is set to perform in the next PPV event but in a surprising capacity. Wrestling Observer Newsletter hinted that Bray Wyatt can return to face Baron Corbin at WWE TLC. But it will happen in an unpredictable manner to earn the biggest cheers from the crowd.
The current storyline with Braun Strowman holds an unpredictability for his status at WWE TLC. WWE is still advertising him for the scheduled match at the upcoming PPV. But he has just been over with a surgery. It is not likely that he can overcome it within just four weeks. The wounds might take a longer time to heal up sidelining him from the PPV event.
Hence, an alternative name should be in store as the backup plan for WWE TLC. As stated by Baron Corbin, he is looking forward to winning the match via forfeit because Braun won’t be able to show up. So this statement can just be an angle to set up the aforementioned matchup between Baron Corbin and Bray Wyatt. The latter one will not show up until the day of WWE TLC.
Instead, Bray Wyatt would show up as a surprise opponent. It’s still not clear whether he is set to win the match but the result should go to his favor. Only then Braun Strowman could challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal title at Royal Rumble.
