WWE News: Big Update On Kevin Owens’s Return To WWE Programming
Kevin Owens is out of action on WWE Raw for the past few months. It is no secret that the roster of the flagship show is dealing with a lot of problems in the absence of marquee superstars. This name is one of them who is absent due to a knee injury. This past summer, he picked up the concussion that forced him to undergo surgery. He ended up going under the knife for his two knees at the same time.
WWE sidelined Kevin Owens courtesy of a storyline angle on WWE Raw. He was involving in a storyline with Bobby Lashley for a better part following Summerslam. The creative team decided to turn Lashley heel in the expense of Kevin Owens. A brutal attack on the weekly show turned out to be the reason why the former champ had to go off from TV.
The positive news is that Kevin Owens is recuperating from the injury as quick as possible. This is why we have received a new vignette on this week’s WWE Raw about the return of the concerned superstar. The aired promo claimed that he will be back sooner than expected. But what could be the exact timeline for his comeback?
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter has given an update on Kevin Owens revealing the timespan when doctors may clear him to wrestle. As per him, the former Universal Champion should be back in the first quarter of 2019. This is in total contrast of the early reports that claimed that he has no chance to compete at Wrestlemania 35.
Meltzer, however, kept the speculations open about Kevin Owens performing at the biggest event of the year. As per him, WWE may use him the night after Wrestlemania 35 where we see a number of superstars either returning or entering the mainstay scene. WWE may just simply hold him down for a perfect storyline around him.
Here’s the update from the source, (wwfoldschool.com)
“According to the Wrestling Observer, Owens is set to be cleared by late February – early March 2019. It means he’ll be ready to return to WWE programming in-time for WrestleMania 35. However, WWE is expected to hold off on Owens’ return until after WrestleMania 35, most likely saving his return for the post-WrestleMania 35 edition of RAW.”
But if the promos from WWE Raw is any indications then Kevin Owens should come back prior to Wrestlemania 35. He is one of those stars who are sure-shot to get a huge match at the grandest stage of the year. With already a star like Roman Reigns out of the hand, WWE is not likely to give him a miss. Chances are high that we are getting KO-Mania IV at the MetLife Stadium.
