Last night’s Smackdown had a big headliner on the card. Last week, WWE announced the dream Wrestlemania rematch between Charlotte Flair and Asuka. These two alongside Becky Lynch will go into a war at WWE TLC, this Sunday. So this match announced on the weekly show was to hype up the historical showdown at the PPV show. It was going to be a slobber-knocker as per our previous experience.
Becky Lynch not cleared for TLC?
Asuka featured in a promo prior to the match hyping up the Smackdown bout. She made a huge mistake by taking Charlotte Flair lightly at Wrestlemania. So the Queen took home the ‘fluke win’, as per her. Last night, she seemed focused prior to the match claiming that Charlotte Flair will not be ready for Asuka.
The Queen also featured in an interview just before the main aired on Smackdown. She addressed the comments from Asuka, earlier the night where she claimed to break her. But the reality is that Charlotte Flair does not break but ‘she breaks undefeated streaks’. She is well aware of the stakes on this Sunday at WWE TLC. But she looked determined to give a preview of WWE TLC to the Empress and the Man.
Becky Lynch came out to have a close look at the Smackdown main event match. It turned out to be a roller-coaster ride from the get-go. Charlotte went for an early moonsault attempt which was not obviously successful. Asuka landed a nasty looking German suplex on Charlotte Flair and gave a Mafia kick.
Asuka was also able to lock in the chokehold on Charlotte, also known as the Asuka Lock. Charlotte barely evaded the move before locking in her own submission move, Figure Eight. The Empress managed to get out of that. Charlotte Flair dropped her with a sit-out powerbomb followed by a spear. But Asuka stayed alive in the match. This made Charlotte Flair irate as she delivered a Kendo stick shot into her opponent.
The referee had to disqualify the match as the three participants of WWE TLC started brawling on Smackdown. Becky Lynch tried to hit some Kendo stick shots to her opponents. But it was Asuka who prevailed, ultimately. She buried the champion under commentary table and put down Charlotte using the stick. Does this indicate her win at WWE TLC? We will find out on Sunday night.
