We were about to see a new number one contender’s match for the women’s title present on the blue brand. The winner would face Asuka for the title at Wrestlemania 35. But Charlotte Flair stole the spotlight.

In a sudden announcement, WWE scraped off the fatal-4-way contender’s match. We rather received a Smackdown women’s championship match with Charlotte Flair challenging Asuka for the title. Eventually, the challenger forced the former champion to tap out to win the title and sent the fans to a frenzy.
This came as a major shocker as Charlotte Flair became the new Smackdown women’s champion. It happened just 12 days prior to Wrestlemania 35 to create an interesting scenario. The women’s champion from the blue brand will now compete at the main event of the April 7th show challenging for the Raw women’s championship.

But this is not the only interesting statistics about Charlotte Flair’s championship win. She set a couple of more records just after submitting Asuka on Smackdown. She became an eight-time champion which is the highest number in the history of the women’s division of WWE history. Trish Stratus is the only one to stand beside her.
But the Hall of Famer had won seven women’s championships. The eighth title reign for her came via a win for the Hardcore Championship. Beside this, Charlotte Flair created another record in terms of holding the Smackdown women’s Championship, too. She held this particular title for the maximum times.
Since its innovation in 2016, Charlotte Flair won the Smackdown women’s championship on three occasions. No other superstar on the current women’s roster had won the title thrice. Prior to this, Naomi, Alexa Bliss, and Becky Lynch have won it twice. We want to mention that The Queen holds the record for the Raw division title, too alongside Sasha Banks.
As mentioned earlier, Charlotte Flair has won 8 women’s division championships in her career. (4 RAW Women’s titles, 3 SmackDown Women’s titles, and 1 Divas title) In terms of title reigns, the second generation athlete is way ahead than her contemporaries.
