WWE News: Hall Of Famer Beth Phoenix Announced In-Ring Return At Wrestlemania 35
Sasha Banks and Bayley have been making the rounds on WWE Raw and NXT to find out their Wrestlemania challengers. It is certain that the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles will be on the line on April 7th. But the stage was not fully set until last night’s WWE Raw arrived. A Hall of Famer declared her intentions to come out of retirement to earn the one accolade that she’s yet to achieve. Beth Phoenix is the name who challenged the champions for a title match at Wrestlemania.
It will be the Divas of Doom i.e. Beth Phoenix and Natalya who’d form a team to earn a spot at the Wrestlemania match card. We’re yet to learn whether they will earn that spot or not. But they already heated up the scene by engaging into physical confrontations with Sasha Banks and Bayley. Banks and Natalya also competed in a match that ended in a DQ via interference from Nia Jax and Tamina. These two also showed intentions to compete in the title match.
Updates from WWE.com suggested that Sasha Banks and Bayley might make a big announcement on tomorrow’s Smackdown,
“If nothing else, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships are set up to have a very interesting first WrestleMania season, and we haven’t even gotten to The IIconics’ persistent challenges yet. But perhaps the champs’ appearance on tomorrow’s SmackDown LIVE will shed some light on that front.”
Beth Phoenix has been appearing on WWE TV in a different role for the last couple of years. She was part of the PPV kick-off panels or the commentary table as required by the company. In the meantime, she also returned to in-ring competition for a one-off occasion when Women’s Royal Rumble 2019 took place.
Thereafter, the backstage broadcaster role continued for her until Fastlane arrived in 2019. Beth Phoenix had a seat on the commentary table to watch the WWE women’s tag team championship match. The champions retained on that night defeating Nia Jax and Tamina only to suffer an ambush from them. Here’s when the Hall of Famer interfered in Fastlane PPV.
But being in ring-rust for a long time caused her the damage. Nia Jax and Tamina blasted her after the match. So it was on last week’s WWE Raw where Beth Phoenix decided to seek retribution. She teamed up with Natalya to re-form the Divas of Doom from almost a decade ago. It was the first hint that she might be coming back to action. Now she is just waiting for the WWE officials’ green signal to lace up the boots, again at Wrestlemania.
