WWE News: Intercontinental Championship Handicap Match Set For Elimination Chamber
We previously gave updates about WWE announcing a new Intercontinental Championship match for Elimination Chamber. Last night’s WWE Raw confirmed the same title match with an additional twist. Instead of being a one-on-one match, it will now be a handicapped match featuring three superstars. This brings something really fresh to the table.
As per the updates given by Charly Caruso before WWE Raw went on the air, Bobby Lashley will have to defend the Intercontinental title at Elimination Chamber. But he will not be alone in this bout. His hype-man Lio Rush will accompany him during the title defense against Finn Balor making it a handicap match.
The challenger himself will get some advantage of the rules as well. If he can pin Rush then also he can become the new Intercontinental Champion at Elimination Chamber. Here’s more from WWE.com,
an exclusive video revealed that Bálor will finally get his Intercontinental Title Match at WWE Elimination Chamber in a Handicap Match against Lashley and the outspoken Rush. And if Finn can pin either Lashley or Rush or make one of them submit, he will capture the championship for the first time in his career. That highly anticipated title bout will take place this Sunday at WWE Elimination Chamber, streaming live at 7 ET/4 PT on WWE Network!
WWE Universe had a lot of expectations from Finn Balor at the Royal Rumble event. He received the chance to square off against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. The much-anticipated match finally happened after a long wait of nearly two years. The sudden push of Balor hinted whether he can pull off a surprise win against the beast incarnate.
However, WWE did not take the risk of taking the title away from Brock Lesnar with Wrestlemania looming. So he had to surrender to the Kimura Lock and suffer the submission loss. Now he has to come back to the mid-card title picture against Bobby Lashley. This should be a good match between these two at the Elimination Chamber.
Technically, Finn Balor is the smartest choice to be in the Intercontinental Championship picture. Seth Rollins should be the next Universal title following Wrestlemania leaving no chance for Balor to pick up the prime title on WWE Raw. So having a solid title run with Intercontinental title will keep his strong status intact on the roster.
