Nia Jax broke Becky Lynch’s face prior to Survivor Series with a punch to the face. This let the Smackdown women’s champion go out of the match card, suddenly. Wrestling is a physical sport and that’s why it’s not an unusual thing to see someone getting hurt. But the way Nia Jax delivered the punch was not appropriate. It was disturbing to see that over and over again.
Most of the fans and critics blamed the Samoan lady for such a stiff punch. It was a legit hit the face of Becky Lynch that no one saw it coming. We can’t expect this from a wrestler who is around the scene for the last few years. Hence, we assumed that punishment is waiting for her, going forward. But the reality was very much opposite.
WWE officials instead used this negative heat to build her a super heel on the WWE Raw roster. This is why they selected her as the sole survivor for the women’s tag team elimination match. Plus, a women’s championship match is also waiting for her at the WWE TLC PPV event. Some of the superstars are indeed not happy about WWE rewarding Nia Jax even after the misdeed.

Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted that superstars are indeed unhappy about this. Apparently, there are two kinds of reactions around this incident. Firstly, the pro-wrestling business always works like this. Whenever they get a burning issue, they use it for a superstar to make him a huge babyface or a monstrous heel. Nothing is different in case of Nia Jax.
But the second opinion is that it’s wrong to give push Nia Jax even after hurting her co-star directly. This also wiped out a major PPV matchup against Ronda Rousey that the fans wanted to see for a long time. Plus, this is not the first time that Nia Jax injured someone while performing wrestling moves. Sasha Banks, Bayley, Charlotte Flair, and Zelina Vega has been her victims.
This earned the Rock’s cousin a nickname of being the most unsafe wrestler of this time. But the officials are actually using this fact to make her the most despicable figure on WWE Raw female roster. That’s why WWE is now calling Nia “The Face Breaker”, per storyline. Nia won the #1 contenders Battle Royal at WWE Evolution PPV to earn the Title match. So Nia not being punished by WWE officials can’t be completely ruled out at this point, because the punishment could begin after we’re done with TLC 2018 PPV (that’s where Ronda Rousey vs. Nia Jax II will take place).
